Since the beginning of industrialisation, automation has sought to replace “inefficient” human labour by economic growth-driven machine work. While this has greatly reduced human exploitation, it has also alienated people significantly from many culture-entangled aspects of manual manufacturing – linked to music, dancing, storytelling etc. The current research aims to revisit, from the new perspective of the computer age, how human-centric rituals can form around the process of weaving digitally generated patterns. In this demonstration, the weaving sequences of a procedurally generated kagome mesh are interpreted as sound sequences and intuitive diagrams, illustrating how machine-like instructions can be treated as artistic artefacts, reclaiming digital fabrication as a human-centric cultural practice.
